Don’t Be Fooled
“Those people are zealous to win you over, but for no good. What they want is to alienate you from us, so that you may have zeal for them.”
Galatians 4:17

Paul was referring to the false teachers of that age, of which there were many. Bible prophecies tell us that as the end draws near there will be an increase in false teachers. They can be hard to spot because we often think that when someone has a lot of followers they must be legitimate. They are often very persuasive and popular. With the lack of true discipleship in many of our churches it makes discerning His voice difficult. We’ve often prioritized events and programs in the Church instead of teaching people how to hear and respond to Jesus.
It’s the listening, responding and doing what He says that needs more attention in discipleship. It’s important that we learn to study the life of Christ; His heart, how He lived, how He led, how He followed, how He loved and served, how He engaged the culture, how He didn’t engage the culture, how He invited, how He spoke Truth in love and how He listened. These are just a handful of the aspects of Jesus that require close study.
He is walking among us now. He lives inside of us. We don’t have to manifest His Presence. I mean yes, we should invite Him to occupy the space around us, but that’s only a small part of being with Him. The deeper relationship and reality for the true follower is learning how to connect with Him living inside of us. To turn quietly within often to connect with Him who has taken residence inside us. The Spirit whispers and beckons within each of us who believe and obey.
Are you listening?
What is He saying?
Will you do it?
Are you following the crowd or following Christ?
